Universal AI Saver ("the Extension") is a browser extension that enables users to export and save their AI chatbot conversations from various platforms into multiple file formats. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection and Usage

What Data We Access

The Extension accesses website content only - specifically, AI chat conversation content displayed on supported platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Poe, DeepSeek, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Mistral, Kimi, and Google AI Studio).

Important: The Extension only accesses conversation data when you explicitly click the export button. No automatic data collection occurs.

What Data We Store

The Extension stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • User Preferences: Your chosen export format (PDF, Markdown, HTML, JSON, CSV)
  • Settings: Floating button visibility, auto-expand preferences, and other UI customization options

No conversation data is stored by the Extension. All exported content is generated in real-time and saved directly to your local device through your browser's download function.

What We DO NOT Collect

We DO NOT:

  • Collect, store, or transmit your AI chat conversations to any remote server
  • Track your browsing history or web activity
  • Monitor which websites you visit
  • Collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
  • Access authentication credentials or passwords
  • Collect financial or payment information
  • Track your location
  • Monitor mouse movements, clicks, or keystrokes
  • Use cookies or tracking technologies

Data Processing

All data processing happens entirely in your browser:

  1. When you click "Export," the Extension reads the conversation from the current page's DOM
  2. The conversation is formatted according to your chosen export format
  3. The file is generated locally and downloaded to your device
  4. No data leaves your browser or is sent to any server

Third-Party Data Sharing

We DO NOT:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Share your data with advertisers
  • Transfer your data to analytics services
  • Use your data for purposes unrelated to exporting conversations
  • Share data with AI platforms (the Extension only reads publicly displayed content on your screen)

Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following permissions:

Storage Permission

  • Purpose: Save your export format preferences and UI settings
  • Scope: Local browser storage only (chrome.storage.local)

Tabs Permission

  • Purpose: Detect which AI platform you're currently using and communicate with the content script
  • Scope: Read-only access to current tab information

WebRequest Permission

  • Purpose: Monitor when AI platforms update conversations to ensure accurate data extraction
  • Scope: Observing network requests only, no data interception

Host Permissions (<all_urls>)

  • Purpose: Support 12+ different AI chat platforms with varying domains
  • Scope: Inject content scripts to read visible conversation data and add export UI
  • Note: While the permission is broad, the Extension only activates on supported AI chat platforms

Data Security

  • All data processing occurs locally in your browser
  • User settings are stored using Chrome's secure storage API
  • No remote servers or databases are involved
  • No data transmission over the internet
  • Extension code is bundled and static (no remote code execution)

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The Extension is designed for general audiences and does not target children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Open Source

The Extension's source code is available for inspection, ensuring transparency about data handling practices.

Data Deletion

Since the Extension does not collect or store conversation data remotely:

  • Uninstalling the Extension removes all stored preferences
